A lot to love, with little to dislike 4 out of 5

Teenagers Review:

I picked up this Nancy Drew game the minute I saw it, excited for a new Nancy game. When I got home I had no trouble loading this game in. I liked this Nancy Drew but I couldn't give it a 5 star because of the jobs you have to do. Everyday you have to do the snack shop job or else you get three demerits, so there's one thing that is thrown in there to drag out this game. Another thing is all the side jobs Nancy has to do for everyone. Do someones DNA homework, take picture of everyone and load them up on the website, and when you think you done with that job you have to organize them and then your given another list of things to take pictures of. You also have to prove this girl innocent of plagiarizing, and the last of Nancy jobs is to play air hockey or Scram with one girl when you need something from her.
So once you get past all of Nancy's silly jobs the game picks up.

Wow!! 5 out of 5

From the first game, Secrets Can Kill, HerInteractive has definitely worked really hard to make better graphics, puzzles, characters, and just better games in general. Phantom of Venice and Warnings at Waverly Academy are my two examples. Both are solid games with just the right amount of characters and an even balance of work and play. Unlike 14, 15, and 16, which each had their faults, HerInteractive has strived to make better games after those, like Crystal Skull, Venice, and now Waverly. I have only played parts of Castle Malloy, but I've heard that Ransom had its problems.

This game is set in an all girls' boarding school in New York. You get to reside in and investigate Ramsey Hall, the place where all the senior valedictorian candidates live. The building is beautiful, from the rich wooden floors to the creativity involved in the students' rooms. The graphics are exquisite, and the facial expressions that the suspects make can be hysterical. The setting and graphics are amazing so I give them 5 stars.

The plot is very clear. The headmistress from Waverly begged Nancy to find out who was behind the malicious accidents and warnings from one of the students whose signature was the "Black Cat." One of the recent accidents was so deadly to a girl, (she was fed something she was terribly allergic to,) that her parents threatened to sue the school if they didn't rapidly find out the Black Cat's true identity. I'd say the simple but fun plot deserves 5 stars.

One word describes the characters and that word is wow!! They look like you would expect for high schoolers and their facial expressions fit the converstaion well and all of them are extremely different. I will describe them for you.
Corine Myers is your African American roommate. You can tell that she would be a gossipy, fun to hang out with girl, but social barriers at Waverly hold her back from having many friends. Cute and bubbly are descriptions of this strong character, Corine.
Isabella Romero (Izzy for short,) is the most popular and stylish girl in her class. Being the student body president also does not help her conceited and judgemental personality. Her roommate is Leela Yadav, who I mention next.
Leela Yadav is the athletic superstar at Waverly. Any sport you can play at Waverly, Leela does. She is usually spending her time kicking a soccer ball from foot to foot in the rec room, trying to convince people that pass by to play Air Hockey or Scram with her. She brags about her athletic talent, but she is a good addition to the game.
Mel Corbalis lives next to Corine and Becca (Nancy's fake name in the game,) and is totally goth. Her roommate is the one that had to leave with the allergic reaction that nearly killed her, and basically her only friend is Corine. She might be the nicest character in the game, and is definitely my favorite. Though sort of strange, Mel is a great person in the game.
Rachel Hubbard is from Pittsburgh and lives on the other side of the study hall from "Becca." She has a double-faced personality; she will say something, then when you go back to her she denies it. How many friends does Rachel have? Zilch. "Becca" is suspicious of her since she flunked a test recently that took her almost definitely out of the running for valedictorian unless everyone else totally messed up. "Becca" decides that maybe Rachel sent the notes since she wants to scare off all her competitors. But whatever way, all those candidates were suspects.
Not exactly a suspect in the game but an important character is Paige Griffin, the Resident Advisor. She is grouchy and you never see her face to face, but if you dare to sneak around the halls after curfew, you will occasionally see her shadow in the darkness, looking around for any rulebreakers.
All the characters make sense and are strong and solid. I'd rate them altogether 4.5 stars you don't get to see Paige, which is a little disappointing.

All the puzzles are great and self explanatory. You don't find yourself constantly looking up cheats (like I usually do!), and are all related to the game, not random puzzles you spend hours trying to figure out since they are not explained anywhere. Exciting and not too hard, I'd rate the puzzles an even 5 stars.

One thing I love about this game is you can get demerits by breaking the rules!! From climbing an oak tree to pulling the fire alarm to roaming the halls at night, I found it really fun to break the rules!! Paige would yell at you and send you to your room. But be careful!! If you get over 15 demerits, you will be expelled from Waverly. You can make up your bad deeds by doing good ones, though!! For example, if you helped another student with a project or gave prompt service to a teacher, you could get a credit. I loved this new feauture in this game and thought it helped complete the game. The new feature I will give 5 stars.

Extras in this game come in bundles!! If you're bored from the game, (though I highly doubt you will be!) you can play either Air Hockey or a fun game called Scram with Leela. Also, though you are required to serve as Snack Shop boss at least once daily in this game, you can be the boss as many times as you want!! Yet another thing is that at night, you can sneak around the big halls of the academy and hide from Paige!! All the optional extras in the game I found REALLY fun and praise HerInteractive for, but also I rate them 5 stars at least.

The ending is quite a shocker!! I am positive it took lots of hard work from HerInteractive to make it so grand, but I'm glad they did!! One tiny little thing that bugs me is that the final puzzle is guess-and-check, so it takes you a few second chances to figure it out unless you look up a hint online. That one small flaw is the reason I'll only give the ending 4.5 stars.

Overall, this is an amazing game that you shouldn't hesitate to buy!! If you are a major fan like me or if is your first Nancy Drew game, either way, I hope you purchase it ASAP!!

A Good Addition to the Nancy Drew Lineup 4 out of 5

This is definitely one of the better Nancy Drew games. It's not my overall favorite, but it was definitely a good one. This installment involves Nancy going undercover at an elite girls' school to determine who is sabotaging the top students. Nancy lives as a student in the dorm, and investigates her suspects, who are in the running for valedictorian. This game has its good points and its bad points. There are lots of people to talk to, and quite a bit to do in this game, that's certainly a plus. I did find the locations somewhat limiting- Nancy is restricted to the dorm building and library during her time at Waverly. There are the sort of puzzles and tasks one expects in a Nancy Drew game. Some of the characters in the game are a bit overdone, but overall, the story was engaging, and kept me interested to delineate the culprit.

Warning at Waverly is just OK 3 out of 5

This is my first Nancy Drew game. It was OK, but a little confusing. At least it didn't require quick
reflexes, but it was sometimes hard to figure out what was needed to do.

It was good but too short and the puzzles can be confusing. 4 out of 5

I feel like the game is a bit too short. I mean, it was shorter than Phantom of Venice. The snack shop was fun to do. The characters had some personality. The ending was unpredictable. (I always like a good twist) The puzzles were confusing. (like I totally don't know what to do sometimes) but overall it was good. I'd give it 4 and a half. MOSTLY BECAUSE IT WAS FUN TO PLAY.
