Deca Sports 2 is what the Wii was made for 5 out of 5

I purchased Deca Sports 2 primarily because I practice kendo, and was interested to see if the game could capture some of the excitement of the sport. It exceeded my expectations in every way. The controls were intuitive and even modestly realistic (within reason for what one can hope for in a video game). The tactics of the game also were surprisingly accurate to real life (for example, the kote-men combination attacks, and the jodan/chudan stances). Movement of the kenshi was the most pleasant surprise - I half-expected to see the characters running at full sprint towards each other; instead they correctly step and lunge.) The end result is an experience that doesn't leave one saying "that's not what kendo is really like" - and yet, it was still easy to learn and execute the movements. If I had to say one negative thing, it would be that movement is linear between the two players, rather than some circling. But that is a minor complaint, and does not detract from the fun of the game.

The experience got better from there. The tournament and challenge game modes add variety and keep the game from losing its appeal. Designing your own team is also fun, and the option to play multiplayer online ensures day after day of fun from this game.

I chose to focus this review on one particular sport (of the 10 total on the disc) because I suspect that, like myself, most people interested in this game will have two or three sports that they like best, and rarely if ever touch the others. For me, that was Kendo, Mogul Skiing, and Road Racing (plus Tennis, though a tennis game comes with the Wii console). Odds are high that at least one of the three iterations of Deca Sports published on the Wii will have a sport that appeals to you. If so, I highly recommend them.

HORRIBLE GAME!!! 1 out of 5

This is NOT worth buying. The game is frustrating and hard to control. The response was extremely slow. I could not control my character in the syncronized swimming. The game had unrealistic action. It did not use the Miis. You cannot create your own team symbol and the options were weird and hard to see. The only good sport was kendo. I hope this was helpful.

Deca Sports 2 4 out of 5

With the game having a Wii Sport theme, I expected a little bit more action involved. For example, with the swimming I expected to stroke my arms through "water". But, instead, the player only needs to flick their wrist. It feels a little bit to much like a typical video game. As a mother, I was hoping for more action. But, it is fun. With 10 different sports, there is something for everyone in the family. There are tutorials that you can either take advantage of or skip if desired.

A Fun Game Unfairly Rated 5 out of 5

I got this game about the same time I got the more terrible Wii Game Factory 3 game and I have to say that this one is pretty good almost as well done as the Wii Resort game. Some people have complained about the control and sensitivity of the actions during game play but I haven't had that problem at all, most of the mini games focus on the timing of the motion of your remote action than just randomly swinging the remote or pushing buttons like with the kendo game or synchronized swimming game which rely on timing your moves specifically or with the flow of the other members of your team. The game is definitely a lot more fun than the previous mentioned game factory 3 game(That game is very atrocious with the wii remote action controls). The game allows you to make your own team of about five members and compete in the sports games from tennis to hockey an so on, you can also compete with other players online with the Wii's wi-fi connection if you want to, almost all the games are fun but you do have to practice with some of the moves and timing with certain games but the game does give you a practice tutorial to show you how to use your remote and sometimes the nunchucks for the sports game you've picked to play. The graphics are pretty good about the same as Wii resort and that's good enough for me, there are about ten games in all so you won't be bored by playing just one or two sports game and you can always play against someone else if you want to from a two person game to four persons which is of course a lot of fun. This is one game that I feel has been unduly blasted considering other games out there far more worse than this one is. So if you've playe the Wii sports or resort and are looking for something just as fun here's another great game to add to your Wii library...

Decent and budget priced 3 out of 5

Like many other reviews here I expected more. I had visions of something like Wii Sports. This is not the case. The games are not really first person, which takes away from the experience. There is a pretty high learning curve for many of the sports and the controls are not bad, not Wii sports level either. Graphics are fair.

The upside is that it's not really expensive. It does offer a really wide variety of games, some of which are more fun than others - the racing game is great! I haven't tried a lot of them yet. Tennis is pretty good, it is definitely more realistic than Wii sports - requiring perfect timing when the ball is in the air to hit/serve it. If nothing else, statistically there are so many games in this that you will find a couple that you like.

To quote Montgomery Burns from The Simpsons: "I know what I hate, and I don't hate that."
