I read the reviews about the 3rd disc being defective, but the game description that I looked at had a note saying that there would be an extra copy of disc 3 included with my game just in case the original didn't work. Well, guess what? No extra copy of disc 3 and my disc 3 doesn't work. So, now I have to wait until Monday to call Microsoft and have them send me a new one. I'm pretty annoyed that Microsoft still has this game out there with bad discs, but even more annoyed that Amazon also not fulfilling what they promise with a copy of the bad disc. Was hoping to not have to wait to play this game, but I guess I'll be waiting after all. :(

I love this game. It is so much fun. First of all there are three different modes, free form where you have an unlimited budget and don't have to unlock anything besides the things campaign mode and challenge mode unlocks, challenge mode where you can do challenges like taking photos and making new exhibits to earn prizes that you unlock, and campaign mode which is basically a story mode where you have to complete all the scenorinos in that campaign and unlock prizes. There are many animals too. I especially like the african wild dogs and meerkats. It has many popular animals like pandas and some probably never heard of ones too like the short-finned pilot whale. There are also many dinosaur species but I usually get all tangled up in the names and can't remember them. There is also a "zoopedia" which is basically an encyclopedia that has lots of imformation about the plants and animal species you can get. For instance if I never had this game I wouldn't know that to communicate with their young florida panthers chirp. This game has made me push farther towards wanting to become a zoologist when I grow up. Now I have the whole plan on what I will be when I grow up, what kinds of dogs and cats I will have (I got those from Dogs 101 and Cats 101.) and specifically what animals I will help, which is a sea otter. There are many different biomes too like the alpine which is a mountain terrain and the tundra or arctic. You can really interact with the animals too. In zoo guest mode you can groom the animals, go face to face with the animals in their exhibit, refill their food and water, and even pretend like you are a guest. There are some ways to tell the differences with the animals too. You can also take pictures of the animals and save them in an album. Also if you double click on the pictures you can zoom in on them. I've had this game for almost three years now and it is still a perfect game. If you are an animal fan and like simulation games you HAVE to get this game!!

I bought this game having played Zoo Tycoon 2 before and loved it, and figured that buying the full collection would be easier and cheaper then buying all the seperate editions.I was insanely wrong, apparently something happened with Microsoft selling out defective discs. My first disc alone didn't work! I had my parents call Microsoft, and I have been able to order another *hopefully working* copy. I know the game is amazing and well detailed, but really Microsoft- you're not getting any more love by not fixing this. I don't plan on buying another Microsoft game for a while, I've had my fill of working this much for a game.

The game is fabulous. Assuming you get a copy that isn't defective (I've purchased two- one for myself, one as a gift- and they are both fine), I doubt you will have any complaints about this game. Zoo Tycoon 2: Ultimate Collection contains the original game and all four expansion packs for a pretty low price. If you think you want the complete package, definitely go with this one, as it is a better bargain.
The game itself is quite fun. There are three ways to play: Freeform (unlimited cash, everything unlocked, just for fun); Challenge (you choose how much cash you start with, unlocking items and animals as you go, and you can accept or decline challenges related to animals, photography, etc.); and campaign (set amount of cash with a major goal in mind. To complete a campaign, you take care of scenarios in three or four zoos, and at the end, you unlock a special item or set of items.) Since this game includes all the expansion packs, there are a multitude of animals available for placement, including extinct creatures, dinosaurs, endangered species, and various marine animals. Every animal is accompanied by an encyclopedia entry, and it's fun to learn about animals and their habitats, or why certain animals are no longer around today.
The only glitch I have to report is a minor one. In the original game, one of the Campaigns had a conservation theme. You were given a couple of animals and had to breed them, without adopting more. In the expansion packs, gameplay was changed so blood relative animals would not reproduce with each other. Since all the expansion packs are contained within this game, this particular campaign cannot be beaten, it appears, because the animals will no longer breed. This is a minor flaw, and I hope to find a cheat code or patch that will fix the problem.

This was a really nice game. Some of the discs seem to have problems, as was mine, but they sent a backup disc to help. This game does not run well on old computers, the screen looks weird. However, it runs nicely on fast computers. You adopt over 100 animals from Zoo tycoon 2 and all of its expansion packs. Its really fun to create awesome exibits. there are also many cool buildings you can build like sushi stands annd aquariums. This is one of the most awesome computer games ever!
