No Campaign or story 1 out of 5
Good Game but I feel there is no reason to play. Boring to play without a story to go along with it.
In Depth Strategy - total time drain 5 out of 5
The game is an outstanding RTS and it will suck away time, not for the too faint at heart, easy to pick up even if your a novice but almost impossible to master If your looking for a space based RTS you need not go further than this. Be warned though a hefty machine is recommended to run this.
Fun, Difficult, and overall great game. 4 out of 5
Sins of a solar empire is a fun game that relies upon quick wits, and consistent input. Sins is unlike most "sim" games, instead of focusing on cities, you focus on your empire and how its run, (versus a population count and infrastructure). Depending upon how you play, you can make friends or you can make treaties, go to war, attack/colonize, then make friends again all for your unwonted desire for power. (well summed up how i play. ;) ). Sound is good, gfx are nice, and it seems to be more focused on combat than anything. Overall, pick up this game you won't regret it.
For info sake, make sure you have up to date drivers, otherwise you'll get weird pixelation, poor gfx, and an overall unsatisfactory play. Also dl the patch so you can get rid of the pirate raids (they, were annoying).
Small Scale to Massive Scale 4 out of 5
Game is different from most others. No story mode, just skirmish or multiplayer. 3 factions, scalable maps, and ability to easily design your own maps by choosing number of stars, nubmer of planets, and planet types. Game does get repetitve after awhile though. Massive maps could take a very long time to complete.
Where is it? Why is my expected delievery in a month? 4 out of 5
So I have played the demo a lot for this game and finally picked it up on sale to try out the new expansion. I ordered it on Feb.27th with prime 2-day shipping. It says it hasn't shipped yet and the expected delivery time is March 19-27! What the heck is going on? Do they have to print out a new disk and all the extras for me? How could anything take that long to get sent out?!
I remember the game being complex, fast paced, and fun so I am really excited to play this. There is not much of a story during the game but the intro movie is really good and sets the scene. I hear it is best played with real people over the internet, but that games can take several hours. The demo ended after 90 minutes which is really just scratching the surface of the real experience.
So ship it already! I don't care about the collector's extras, I just want to play this game!
