I love this game I have tried many diferent NHL games in the past but this is awsome. It has a very indebth dynasty with trading signing upgrades and just about evaey thing else.
The Good

when ever a player scores a board comes up with the scorers season stats and the assists

This game is a very solid all-around sports game. Graphics and gameplay are outstanding, and there are thousands of ways to customize the experience. Minor league play and franchise creation are great aspects. All in all, a fantastic game.

Hockey games, and most sport games, are generally very good and this game is no exception. Good graphic, fairly easy to pick up controls, and a realistic gameplay.

My son and I are not big hockey nuts, we root for the Flyers but do not watch many games at all, he loves football, baseball and basketball and plays all of them on the Xbox 360, so when he said he wanted a hockey game I thought why but since it was only 9.99 I said yes, from the first game he played he is totally hook, even I cannot put it down, we both love it, we always have close games and some go to the shootouts, we never had more fun, now the Madden, NBA and MLB games sit there collecting dust, it is a great great exciting game.

I always try to find deals on games and well.... Games with a particular year in the title often are marked way down once that year passes so I bought this instead of NHL10. This game is great! The replay value of it is very high, the career mode and game modes really keep the game fun and it's true the jersey's and player lineups are not as current as the latest verison, but it's still a great game.
The graphics are good and the controls are very easy to learn.
I did upgrade to NHL10 which I got for christmas and it is VERY similar to NHL08 so you could save a bundle and just get NHL08 if you wanted to. NHL10 does introduce a few new features, but honestly not enough to justify a huge price difference. Once you learn NHL08 then upgrade to 10 and learn the few extra moves they give you which includes pressing opps. along the boards, better fighting, etc.
I highly recommend this game.
