It is fun on XP and older systems (also means slow) did not work on Vista and was unable to locate and load a patch to allow it to run on Vista. Strange, the Star Wars package that preceeded it and is required for this package ran OK on Vista. I play this game on grandpa's slow laptop that has a XP OS.
Haven't really played it 5 out of 5
But I played and loved Empire at war. So, considering this is that plus a super star destroyer (star dreadnought) it must be cool!!!
Great addition to Empire at War 5 out of 5
I thought I would comment on this game and let you all in on something I had to find out by going to Lucas Arts. When I bought my new computer with Vista 64 on it, I was excited to load my favorite games onto it from my old laptop. I loaded Empire at War, and ot worked fine, but Forces of Corruption didn't want to work. I love Forces of Corruption because it added the new Death Star and Vader' Super Star Destroyer in the Galatic Conquest Mode. I was really upset that it didn't work. I later found out that it couldn't run because I had too much RAM (6GB). In order to play it, I have to reduce the amount of RAM the computer will run on while I am playing the game. Its pretty easy to switch back and forth, but I wish that the people who made this game would have made sure it was able to run on high levels of RAM like the original is.
Anyway, as far the game goes, I love the additions. The only thing I didn't like was the how annoying it gets while in Galatic Conquest mode, Zan's gang is always corrupting your planets. But once you knock out enough of their planets they tend to leave you alone more. I like playing as the Empire because you get to use the new Death Star which can also destroy ships, and not just planets. You also get to use Vader's Super Star Destroyer. Combine the two of them plus a few extra Star Destroyers, and no one stands a chance against you.
The best effort. 5 out of 5
If you've played any of the Age of Empire games or anything similar, this is like it, but even better. Plus it's Star Wars, so if you're a fan of the movies, now you get to play them. You can take control of a fleet of ships out in space or you can battle on land (and use your Space Cruisers and Bombers to attack people on planet side as well). Plus you get to be all the heroes from the movies. Short of a first person shooter, this is the best way to immerse your self in the Star Wars universe (and in some ways it is better). This is lots of fun and has different difficulty levels so anyone in the family can play. My eight year old son can play the easy level and I play the medium or hard, depending if I have allies or not.
Now with this expansion you can also control the criminal element of society. It just makes a great game better. I recommend this to all Star Wars fans and anyone who likes fleet space battles.
Star Wars RTS Done Right 4 out of 5
All I can really say is that out of numerous Star Wars games over the years, and expansions packs for any game in general, this one takes the cake.
It adds some much needed balance between the Empire and the Rebellion. Not to mention the new faction coming into the middle is balanced to fit well. And it isn't just now 3 pieces of a pie. Each faction has their unique attributes still and then some.
I personally like how the Consortium has some of the toughest units, but they are hard to get. And hard to upgrade as well. Having to play both sides to get your research also adds a certain challenge.
All in all I say this is well worth it if you don't have the expansion.
