Amazing Game! 5 out of 5
Honestly, this game is so much better than WOW or most other MMOs out there. Plus, it's free to play online! You really can't go wrong with this game. Just go up there and click buy. Problem solved.
My Review 3 out of 5
Pros:
- No pay per month
- Good music
- Enjoyable atmosphere
- Lots of strategy. There are many abilities, but you can only use 8 at a time. This means finding the best build for each situation.
- Lots of events. Holiday events, tournaments, etc...
- Dye system to customize your armor
- Guilds have their own capes and halls that can be customized.
Cons:
- The only time you will see other players is inside towns. If you exit the town, you create your own instance where only you and your party can be. This makes the game feel desolate and boring.
- Limited free-roaming. Often you will find yourself wanting to jump up or down a small cliff or ledge to get to a new area, but the game has no jump button and will not allow you. You're forced to take a set path to reach a certain location.
- Limited amount of items. For example, everyone can easily obtain the best armor in the game. Money is generally only useful if you want to look unique - for example, buying a rare dye, or having a rare pet.
- No large PvE encounters. The max people you can have in a party is like 8 or so.
- No auction house which results in people spamming in chat all the time.
Overall, I enjoyed the game for about a month or two and got bored. I recommend trying the free trial before purchasing it.
So Much Fun Has Got To Be A Sin 5 out of 5
This review is partly about my addiction to this game and may also serve as a warning to the unsuspecting.
First to begin with, I'm against all addictions. Addictions can inhibit you in fulfilling other worthwhile goals in your life.
I've played this game way, way too much. To the point where it's kind of messing with my life right now. Causing me to miss appointments and being late for work more than a few times.
I find myself contriving ways to stay away from my computer just because the game is on it.
Sometimes I approach my computer station with trepidation knowing that the game is there waiting, lurking---as it were---beckoning to me, to plunge into its world.
When I give in and enter its magical universe, I like to play as a healer, and I'm a pretty good one.
I use protection spells and divine favor enchantments to heal and keep my team alive during adventures and battles.
Though I've been playing the game for more years than I care to remember,
I've just gotten around to reviewing it because I was just too busy playing.
Long Time Gamer But First MMORPG 5 out of 5
I've been playing computer games since the 80's, but Guild Wars is the first MMORPG that I've tried and after playing it for hours and hours in the 5 days that I've had, I am hooked and only wish I had tried it sooner! I had been looking at a MMORPG to try and after reading the great reviews I decided to go with Guild Wars. I have not been disappointed with my decision. I love the RPG slant, as well as the gameplay and graphics. The people I've met and played with online have all been helpful and friendly. And to top it all off, once you buy the game, you can play as long as you like, with NO MONTHLY FEES! I look forward to playing each evening, returning to Ascalon and the next adventure that awaits me.
Brief Summary of Guild Wars 4 out of 5
Was searching for a secure game; where hackers don't rule, and the administrators are helpful and know what they are doing. Guild Wards is very well thought out. Not too much grinding, leveling is pretty quick. Options abound, no two characters are the same, so many skills and attributes available. Graphics are terrific. Game works flawlessly, no difficulty connecting. Lots of players. Plenty to read and research on the Web. I bought the original version on the cheap to see if I like the game. Guild Wars 2 comes out soon but will no doubt cost more. For a few dollars, you can't go wrong with this game ...
